Diagnosis

A diagnosis of RA is a life-changing event, but it opens the door to treatment that will help you manage your symptoms and minimize damage to joints and other parts of your body.

Your doctor will need to take several factors into account when making a diagnosis of RA. Symptoms can develop and progress quite differently in different people, and are sometimes similar to those of other conditions. To make matters even more complicated, no single test definitively identifies the disease. There are, however, systematic ways in which your doctor can use all of the available information to arrive at a diagnosis of RA. Learn what to expect.
