One Third of Individuals with Psoriatic Arthritis Have Used an Alternative or Natural Treatment

TheRAConnection recently completed a survey in 100 patients with inflammatory arthritis including rheumatoid arthritis (RA), psoriatic arthritis (PsA), and ankylosing spondylitis (AS) to evaluate treatment choices for the management of their condition.

Question: Have you ever tried an alternative or natural treatment?

Overall one third of respondents have used an alternative or natural treatment to try to control symptoms of their arthritis. The most commonly tried treatments were:

  • Acupuncture
  • Diet
  • Cannabis Oil
  • Mediation/Yoga
  • Massage Therapy
  • A Chiropractor

Living with arthritis or other inflammatory conditions can mean coping with stress, fatigue, pain, and more—but it doesn’t mean you can’t live a positive, active and meaningful life. Chances are, that you will have to make some adjustments to your life and you’ll adopt a “new normal.” Many people with continue to live and thrive—enjoying life while coping with the symptoms of these conditions.
